From RiverLink, a proposal to refurbish a failed attempt along Craven Street to filter street runoff in biocells. This is intended to be a demonstration project for what can can added to many of Asheville’s rolling streetscapes. Biocells function in the same way as rain gardens, part of a broader effort by RiverLink to protect & improve water quality in the French Broad River.
From GreenWorks, a proposal to support 4 general, public information tree workshops as well as 4 more in depth, neighborhood Tree Keeper workshops. Both workshop series are oriented to put knowledgable eyes on development throughout the city as a way to protect the urban canopy.
Also from GreenWorks, a proposal to underwrite the cost of creating 4 “pollinator packs.” These packs filled with books, activities, toys & field tools for kids will be available for check out by families at the West Asheville Public Library & the Vance Elementary School Library. As entertaining educational packages, these packs will help connect kids more deeply with nature & teach them about the importance of pollinators in nature’s interconnected web of life.
