Please join us at the Sixth Annual West Asheville Garden Stroll, Saturday, September 13, 2014. This year’s theme “Celebrating Pollinators”, will be highlighted during family friendly kickoff ceremonies at Francine Delany School, 119 Brevard Road in West Asheville. Asheville-based Bee City USA will provide an educational exhibit on creating sustainable habitats for pollinators, and home made bee homes for non-hiving bees will be on exhibit. We will be showcasing our 2014 Seed Money Grant recipients with a photo display of the progress on their projects.
The kickoff festivities will start at 10:30 am, and the gardens will be open from 11:00 – 4:00, rain or shine.
The 2014 Stroll includes approximately 12 gardens in West Asheville, with this year’s gardens centered along Brevard Road and surrounding neighborhoods. Garden features along the way will include set-ups for chickens and bees, heirloom vegetables, a pollinator corridor, a monarch way station, experimental blight resistant chestnuts, and garden art.
In keeping with this year’s theme, if you want to attract pollinators to your garden, download Plant a Pollinator Friendly Garden (MS Word format) for a list of common plants that support pollinators.
The West Asheville Garden Stroll is a non-profit endeavor led by a group of passionate gardeners. It is FREE and open to the public.
